Columbia Nephrology Associates (CNA) was formed by Dr. Walter G. Edwards and Dr. U. X Cullum in 1980 and is centrally located in Columbia. Our physician staff has grown to 16 which makes our practice the largest in South Carolina. Our physicians are certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. We have 6 mid level practioners that work under the direction of the Columbia Nephrology physicians.
The first outpatient Hemodialysis Clinic in Columbia was opened in 1975. Since that time the number of clinics has grown to 14. We have dialysis clinics in the Columbia area as well as Camden, Lugoff Elgin, Batesburg, Newberry and Winnsboro. We currently manage over 900 dialysis patients, 20 % of the states end stage renal disease population. We have patients on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis and nocturnal dialysis.
