Columbia Nephrology Associates, P.A. was formed by Dr. Walter G. Edwards and Dr. U. X Cullum in 1980 and is centrally located in Columbia. Our physician staff has grown to 15 which is the largest practice in South Carolina. Our physicians are certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. We have 7 Mid-level Practitioners that work under the direction of the Columbia Nephrology physicians.

The first outpatient hemodialysis clinic in Columbia was opened in 1975. Since that time the number of clinics has grown to 14. We have dialysis clinics in the Columbia area as well as Camden, Lugoff Elgin, Batesburg, Newberry and Winnsboro. We currently manage over 1000 dialysis patients, which is 20% of the state's end stage renal disease population. We have patients on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis and nocturnal dialysis.
